Dam
gates facilitate level control in a body of water. The absence
of any superstructure allows water to pass totally unimpeded
and preserves the visual amenity of the site. The gates comprise
a fish-shaped shell with several bearings on dams or, for
small sizes, a specifically-designed torque tube with a steel
apron and stiffeners.
The
operating device can be a jack, a winch or a hydraulic ram.
Hydraulic rams are controlled manually, semi-automatically
or automatically. |
